Dr. Hilton completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiology as well as a Master’s degree in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan. She was awarded the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society Best Paper Award presenting work on ovarian imaging at the annual meeting in 1999. She earned her Doctor of Medicine Degree with Great Distinction at the University of Saskatchewan and subsequently she completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Calgary. With a strong interest in fertility care, she completed additional training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility with the Regional Fertility Program during her residency.
Upon completion of residency training, Dr. Hilton practiced obstetrics and gynecology and provided fertility treatments and care in Regina, Saskatchewan. During that time, she collaborated with fertility clinics across Canada and USA to provide satellite monitoring and improve access to fertility treatments like in vitro fertilization (IVF) for her patients. She worked with patient advocacy groups and a Government of Saskatchewan committee to develop a fertility care pathway.
Ultimately, Dr. Hilton followed her passion to provide high quality patient-focused fertility care and pursued sub-specialty Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons training in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (GREI) with the University of British Columbia. She started her REI practice in Edmonton before relocating to Calgary to join the Regional Fertility Program Team.
She has presented at local, national, and international conferences, and she enjoys teaching her patients and students. She has been a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Alberta, and she is excited to return to Calgary to contribute as part the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Calgary. Dr. Hilton’s clinical and research interests include ovarian stimulation, ultrasound assessment of fertility and early pregnancy, evidence-based fertility care, time-lapse embryo assessment, IVF treatment protocols/adjuncts and improving access to fertility care.
